First Nations consultation on sewage treatment outfall

For the past several years, Alan has been planning, coordinating and conducting consultations with First Nations whose traditional territories overlap with the project area and who expressed an interest in being consulted. Originally, a total of 11 First Nations were contacted and after discussions with the Nations, that number was reduced to six.

Initial consultations focused on how Nations wished to be consulted and whether they had the capacity to do that. Capacity funding was negotiated. Consultations were summarized in a public report, although the information was aggregated and individuals and individual Nations were not included to maintain confidentiality.
